“Erčia” is an open area surrounded by a forest. Settlements are established in such places. The new headquarters of the State Forest Service (VMU) and the visitor center building are designed in the midst of multi-year pine trees. After demolishing existing buildings, forest clearings will open up – symbolic clearings where new buildings with all necessary infrastructure are planned. The remaining and almost untouched part of the forest is dedicated to recreation and exploration. New buildings are designed to organically complement the existing forest and be clearly visible from Trakų Street. The landscaped area will be recognizable to visitors, creating a local identity with architectural elements and authentic details. The buildings, in their purpose, expression, and use of technology, will reflect forestry traditions and values.
The VMU territory is divided into several functional zones/areas:
– Open area – a portion of the land plot allocated for the needs of the external visitor building. An enhanced space with a clearly expressed function of public visitation and exploration is formed next to the visitor building. The free and undeveloped forest area is traversed by a nature trail with unique design elements of small architecture
– Closed area – land plot portions allocated for the needs of the SFS administrative building where access by external visitors is not intended
– Sports and wellness zone with basketball, outdoor tennis, football fields, outdoor exercise equipment, and a children’s play area.
– Arboretum
– Solar power plant of 500 kW, facing south
– Accommodation (the existing residential building is suggested to be reconstructed into a dormitory)

Erčia – atviras plotas, apsuptas miško. Tokiose vietose įkuriamos gyvenvietės. Valstybinės miškų urėdijos (VMU) naujoji būstinė ir lankytojų centro pastatas projektuojami daugiamečių pušų apsuptyje. Nugriovus esamus pastatus atsivers miško aikštelės – simbolinės erčios, kuriose projektuojami nauji pastatai su visa reikalinga infrastruktūra. Likusi ir beveik nepaliesta medyno dalis skiriama rekreacijai bei pažinimui. Nauji pastatai projektuojami taip, kad organiškai papildytų esamą medyną ir būtų aiškiai pastebimi nuo Trakų g. Sutvarkyta teritorija lankytojams bus atpažįstama, architektūros elementais ir autentiškomis detalėmis kurs vietos identitetą. Pastatai savo paskirtimi, išraiška ir panaudotomis technologijomis atspindės miškininkystės tradicijas bei vertybes.
VMU teritorija suskaidoma į kelias funkcines zonas/teritorijas:
– Atvira teritorija – išorės lankytojų pastato reikmėms priskirta žemės sklypo dalis. Šalia lankytojų pastato formuojama įgilinta erdvė su aiškiai išreikštą viešo lankymo bei pažinimo funkcija. Laisva ir neužstatyta miško teritorija įveiklinama nutiesiant pažintinį taką su unikalaus dizaino mažosios archittektūros elementais
– Uždara teritorija – VMU administracinio pastato reikmėms priskirtos žemės sklypo dalys į kurias išorės lankytojų patekimas nenumatomas
– Sporto ir sveikatinimo zona su krepšinio, lauko teniso, futbolo aikštelėmis, lauko treniruokliais bei vaikų žaidimo aikštele
– Medelynas
– Saulės elektrinė 500 kW, orientuota į pietus
